Down the TBR Hole #4

This is a blog meme created by Lia, Lost in a Story!

“Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?”

Okay, at the end of my last TBR Hole post I had 1148 books on my TBR. I now have 1150. I’m still getting better! I’m not adding crazy amounts every month! I usually do 10 books with these so let’s get started! Clicking on the book takes you to it’s GoodReads page.

#1 Fatal Tide (East Salem Trilogy, #3) by Lis Wiehl with Pete Nelson

I have no interest in this trilogy anymore. I read the first book a long time ago and from what I remember, I don’t think I’d like it anymore.

SEE YA

#2 The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket

I still want to read these! I’m sure they’re short so maybe I can speed my way through!

KEEP

#3 The Princess Bride by William Goldman

I know the book is different than the movie, and I love the movie, but I still want to read this.

KEEP

#4 The House by the Sea by Santa Montefiore

I feel like I would love this as a movie but I can’t tell about reading it. I don’t know. Maybe I should keep it. Sometimes I’ve been in the mood for stuff like this just not often.

KEEP

#5 Doon (Doon, #1) by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon

This doesn’t really sound like something I would like anymore.

SEE YA

#6 Little Woman and Me by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

I have no interest in this.

SEE YA

#7 Venom (Secrets of the Eternal Rose, #1) by Fiona Paul

I kind of think this sounds interesting still! A mystery in Renaissance Venice? Sounds fun!

KEEP

#8 All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill

This sounds pretty good! I don’t usually like standalone’s, but it sounds fun.

KEEP

#9 Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, #2) by Lewis Carroll

No thoughts here!

KEEP

#10 Becoming Myself: Embracing God’s Dream of You by Stasi Eldredge

I loved Captivating so I definitely want to read this!

KEEP

Making progress! I now have 1146 books on my TBR! That’s the lowest it’s been in awhile! How many do you have?

At the end of my last TBR Hole post I ended with 1148 books on my TBR. I now have 1149. I’m actually getting better believe it or not! That means I only added a few books to my TBR in almost a month! Sure I knocked some out and replaced them with new books but still. Progress. I usually post 10 books here so let’s get started. (Clicking on the pictures brings you to Goodreads).

#1 Castle in the Air (Howl’s Moving Castle, #2) by Diana Wynne Jones

I still plan on reading this! I LOVED Howl’s moving castle. The book and movie!

KEEP

#2 Lonesome Dove (#1) by Larry McMurtry

I’m honestly going back and forth on this one. I’ve heard nothing but good things BUT it’s not my genre of choice and it’s like, 900 pages long. On the other hand I love western movies so maybe I would like this.

KEEP (for now)

#3 Inkspell (Inkworld, #2) by Cornelia Funke

I honestly do not know why I have not read this yet. I have reread Inkheart 3 times now and yet never get to book 2. Not only are these covers extremely gorgeous but I LOVED Inkheart!

KEEP

#4 Atonement Child by Francine Rivers

I really need to get back into read her books. I LOVED her books in my early 20s. She just speaks to my soul, you know?

KEEP

#5 Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

These were so cute when I was a teen! I kind of want to keep it. It just seems so nostalgic now.

KEEP

#6 The Simarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien

No questions asked here.

KEEP

#7 The Winter Witch (Shadow Chronicles, #1) by Paula Brackston

This still sounds super interesting.

KEEP

#8 I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore

I’m going back and forth on this one. I wanted to read this when the movie came out but that obviously didn’t happen. I sort of want to try it out but I don’t feel like I’m going to love it.

KEEP

#9 Eve (Eve, #1) by Anna Carey

I like dystopians but I’m really not feeling this one.

SEE YA

#10 Winter’s Child: A Retelling of the Snow Queen (Once Upon A Time) by Cameron Dokey

I don’t know why I want to keep this. I think again, for nostalgic purposes.

KEEP

Okay, I only got rid of one. Yikes. That leaves me at 1148 books on my TBR. I might go though a few more pages and see if I can’t whittle it down some! Are any of these on your TBR?

My Goodreads TBR is still out of control. My last TBR post was at the beginning of this year! I want to try and do these monthly and see if I can’t whittle down my giant TBR! At the end of my first TBR Hole post I had 1,060 books on my TBR. I now have 1,153. Oops. Send HELP!

#1 Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire

I am just going to go ahead and say I’m keeping all of Gregory Maguire books on my TBR. I want to read these so bad! They’ve been on my TBR since 2012. Whoops!

KEEP

#2 Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly

Why though… I heard a long time ago that there was a hidden history about Lincoln and for some reason I added a ton of books about Lincoln. I have no interest in this whatsoever. This makes me laugh.

SEE YA

#3 Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

I honestly have no interest in this. I love classics but this one sounds super depressing and boring. If I ever change my mind, I know it exists.

SEE YA

#4 Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

I honestly think this sounds so cute! I might not get to it until my three year old son is old enough but I’ll get to it!

KEEP

#5 The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

I really can’t decide about this one. I’ve heard really mixed reviews! I’m really 50/50 on this!

KEEP for now

#6 Tahn by L. A. Kelly

I have had a physical copy of this book since before I was on Goodreads (before 2012) and I still have not read this. I’m going to let it go. It just isn’t holding my interest anymore.

SEE YA

#7 Talk of the Town by Lisa Wingate

I am super picky about Christian Fiction. This doesn’t seem like something I would like anymore.

SEE YA

#8 The Sanctuary by Ted Dekker

No questions here. I freaking love Dekker. This is an example of Christian Fiction I DO like. He writes like if C. S. Lewis wrote horror.

KEEP

#9 Darkness Rising by Lis Wiehl

I used to love her books back when I was a teenager. But I don’t really have an interest in this one anymore.

SEE YA

#10 Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

I swear I still want to read this so badly! I still freaking love all of the movies.

KEEP

Not too bad! I got rid of half today! I might keep going through a few pages on my Goodreads. Apparently, my tastes in books seven years ago is not the same as it is now. I’m a lot pickier now!

How many books are on your TBR?
